MORE than 4000 residents rose early yesterday morning and headed to Picnic Point for the Peak2Park fun run.
Starting at 7am, participants walked and ran a 4km or 10km course, crossing the finish line at Lake Annand.
Peak2Park organiser Troy Morgan said the event had grown since it was first held 14 years ago.
"The whole idea behind the event was to get the Toowoomba community moving and as a result of that helping charities along the way," Mr Morgan said.
"We've had around 4000 people compete today and we have raised over half a million dollars over the past 14 years.
"It's getting bigger and better every year and we have lots of celebrations planned for next year - you'll have to wait and see what's coming."
Participant Helen Johnson said she travelled in from Oakey with her husband and daughter for the event.
"It's great to see lots of people getting out and supporting Toowoomba sporting events," Mrs Johnson said.
"It doesn't really feel like exercise when you're having fun and doing things together."
Proceeds from the day were donated to the event's beneficiaries Toowoomba West Special School, Eva's Place and Endometriosis Association Qld.
