A FIGHTING team that dubs its sport "MMA with weapons" has celebrated its final fight of the year.

Tyr's Warriors held its Buhurt, Beer and BBQ event on Saturday, November 30, which the team's Jaccob Dawes described as a Christmas party.

The club hosted fighters from the Brisbane and the Gold Coast for the friendly competition.

The fighters dress up as medieval knights, and engage in full combat with swords and shields.

"We have fun at it. We're all mates at the end of the day," Mr Dawes said.

The group is exploring the opportunity to host more fights in the new year.
