Women from across the region gathered for an annual event in the country to socialise, connect and support the HeartKids Foundation.

This year’s fifth annual Cabarlah Ladies Day was held at Perseverance Dam Recreation Centre, Pechey, where 117 women wined and dined and listened to four inspirational speakers while raising $4000 for the HeartKids Foundation.

The Cabarlah Ladies Day concept started in 2016 over a cup of coffee between two friends, Leonie Brassey and Natalie Fogarty.

Ms Fogarty said the day was about tenacity, human spirit, reigniting old friendships and creating new ones.

“Many of our ladies come every year and say they wouldn’t miss it. We enjoy sharing stories, raising money and supporting local businesses,” she said.

“It is so heartwarming to see such a wonderful, connected group of women come together for a great cause.

“The vibe in the room is always warming and uplifting.”

The speakers included Lisa Garcha who shared her family’s touching story about Hannah at HeartKid as well as Kym Coskun, from Down Under Cotton, the founder of Australia’s first 100% Australian Cotton Tampons.

Sally Boardman, from Sunnyspot Packhouse, also shared her business story while artist and author Robyn Beeston’s humour left everyone on a high to finish the event.

There were many community members and local businesses that supported the day and Ms Brassey said it wouldn’t have been possible without all of them.

“There are a lot of people who make this day a huge success, and we are thankful for the opportunity to support a worthy cause and cannot wait until next year’s big event,” she said.
