Toowoomba temperatures drop well below average

A cold blast is set to hit the region this week with temperatures dropping up to 6 degrees below average.

TOOWOOMBA will be the second coldest spot in Queensland today with a top of 19 degrees, just behind Stanthorpe with a top of 18 degrees.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Alex Majchrowski said temperatures were set to cool off even further in the week ahead, as a cold blast hits the region.

"We've got a cloud band developing over most of the state midweek, and that cloud cover as well as some southerly winds that are going to come through will really cool things off," Mr Majchrowski said.

"Over the weekend the maximum will be six degrees below average and minimum will be 3-4 degrees below average.

"For Friday and Saturday we're forecasting a top of 16 degrees."

Mr Majchrowski said the Toowoomba region could also expect some rain on Thursday and Friday.

"It should be pretty widespread but shouldn't be much more than 5mm," he said.
