Each year, teachers go above and beyond to help their students – sometimes buying supplies out of their own pockets.
Until one day, Toowoomba social worker Cody Robinson decided to lend a hand.
Miss Robinson created the Mystery Date With a Book Toowoomba Facebook page to raise donations for school supplies, delivered straight to Toowoomba schools.
“Some children go to school without lunch or school books, and that broke my heart,” she said.
“During Covid, people are looking more towards community and how they can help. I thought this was a way to come together.”
Miss Robinson receives donated books through the Facebook page, wraps them, and sells them for $25 each or $40 for two.
She said 100 per cent of the proceeds went directly to the schools.
“I am in touch with school principals, and I just ask them what they need, and I deliver straight to them,” she said.
Miss Robinson raised $2000 for Toowoomba schools last year, and is hoping to do the same again.
Mystery Date With a Book products can be purchased through the Facebook page, or donations can be made direct through Miss Robinson.
