Toowoomba gas leak: Residents in Centenary Heights evacuated after Ramsay Street incident

Some homes have been evacuated after a main line gas leak was discovered at the intersection of a major arterial street in Toowoomba.

Residents in Toowoomba’s southern suburbs have been evacuated after a gas leak was discovered along a major arterial road.

All emergency services are at the scene at the intersection of Ramsay and Ruth Streets in Centenary Heights, with the nearby Claire Street also affected.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said the incident was alerted to authorities about 8.30am.

The QFES has a Toowoomba inspector, pumper crew and hazmat speciality appliance on scene, while paramedics, police, Ergon and gas company teams are also present.

Ramsay Street remains shut to traffic, with police managing detours in Centenary Heights.
