An old administration building on the Toowoomba Anglican School grounds has been brought back to life in a multimillion dollar refurbishment.
The two-storey building, which was officially opened on Friday, sits on the corner of Campbell and Dudley St and overlooks Webb Park to an view towards Brisbane.
It alsos accommodates two classrooms, music rooms, administration, dining and staff spaces.
Built in 1959, the refurbishment “sensitively acknowledges the old building, but creates a very modern, contemporary space for both staff and students,” Head of School Simon Lees said.
“It’s an incredibly vibrant new space and we were able to save 90 per cent of the things we demolished out of the building,” he said.
Working with local company Northbuild, who refurbished the Rowes Building on Russell St, Mr Lees said it was important to include the local community in the project as well.
“I really hope that this building is going to allow the students to know that the school is an incredibly welcoming place, but also a great place of learning as well,” he said.
The opening included a blessing from the Archbishop of Brisbane Jeremy Greaves.
