Up to 20,000 people are expected to flock to Warraba Sunflowers at Cambooya in the coming weeks and walk through a field of drone-planted sunflowers.
Roger Woods of Drone Commander Australia said it was a “no-brainer” to combine tourism with his experimental drone usage.
“People want the opportunity to walk among the sunflower crops, to take some home, to interact a lot more than what many farmers are comfortable with,” he said.
Mr Woods said he always intended to convert his business to agriculture.
“What you see is actually 12 different experiments of how to plant sunflowers by drone.
“I needed to know what the results would be if the ground wasn’t prepared or fertilised, and that’s what this experiment aims to answer.”
