Christy and Susan Patterns are Bookfest fanatics.
The mum and daughter go to every Bookfest in Southern Queensland but reckon Toowoomba puts on the best event.
“It is very well organised, everything is numbered and it’s a lovely run to Toowoomba,” Susan said.
They were among the thousands of avid readers who pawed through more than 190,000 second-hand books at the weekend.
Susan and her daughter have been collecting cookbooks for 30 years and they were keen to add to their collection.
“I like to look at the pictures and read them,” she said.
“But they have to be Australian.”
They are particularly keen on anything published by the Country Women’s Association
“We really like the sweets and desserts,” Christy said.
Lifeline Darling Downs aimed to raise about $70,000 through the sale at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.
This money will fund its counselling services.
The sale opened Saturday and runs from 8am-2pm on Sunday.
