Strong winds blow frosty weather into town

Toowoomba is in for some wild winter weather this week with strong winds, frost, and low temperatures forecast.

TOOWOOMBA is in for a cold week, with today's forecast being particularly frosty.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a maximum temperature of 11 degrees for the Garden City today, with a low of 4 degrees overnight.

BOM forecaster Rosa Hoff said Stanthorpe was set for a top of just 9 degrees, dropping down to zero overnight.

"We have some quite cold weather for Queensland, not just for today but into the rest of the week as well," she said.

"Our winds have shifted a bit southerly bringing some weather up from down south.

"This will mean a chance of frost and some windy conditions."

Ms Hoff said there was no real chance of snow in Stanthorpe.

"With a little bit of precipitation hanging about we could see some airborne ice," she said.

"The odd flake could be hanging about but we're not expecting any significant accumulation, maybe a spot of sleet."

Wind speeds are expected to reach up to 40km/h today.
