A South Toowoomba woman who said she was “doing it tough” was the lucky winner of $199,000 in the Keno draw while having lunch at a popular local venue.

RETIRED KENO WINNERS GOLD COAST

After “doing it rough” for some time, one Toowoomba family is $199,000 richer through a stroke of fate and a few lucky numbers.

The South Toowoomba woman’s “happy mistake” led to her winning almost $200,000 in a Keno draw on Wednesday.

The happy event happened at the City Golf Club when the woman was having lunch with some girlfriends.

The woman said she usually played 10 numbers, but the person serving her accidentally only gave her nine numbers.

She thought she had struck some lucky numbers when she won a few thousands, so she asked the staff member for the numbers to be replayed.

“She came up to me a bit later and told me to check my ticket because someone had won $199,000,” she said.

“I was blown away.”

City Golf Club general manager Peter Constance said the whole team at the venue were over the moon for the lucky winner.

“It’s great to see a local member win a major Keno prize,” he said.

“We couldn’t be happier for them.”

The woman said she had a “sleepless night” because of all the adrenaline after celebrating on Tuesday night with a few glasses of wine.

“For some people, this might not be a lot of money, but for us, it’s life-changing,” she said.

“We’ve been doing it tough, so this will take the pressure off.

“We’ll use the prize to renovate our house, and then we’ll save some for the future.”
