Iso-marathon raises $13K

More than 100 people took part in the Toowoomba Grammar School and Rio's Legacy isolation marathon earlier this month, raising $13,137 for the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation.

Leading the charge was TGS teacher Ryan Fowler, who ran 141 laps of a 300 metre loop on school grounds, equating to a 42.4km marathon.

"We had over 110 participants at their homes, and we were able to clock up 1102kms on the day," Mr Fowler said.

"It was hard when I got to the 35km mark - but you just continue to push."

The money raised will be used to purchase ventilators for the Toowoomba Hospital.

"It's sensational - we are in COVID and people are still wanting to help," Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kennedy said.

"A ventilator is around $65,000 and the hospital is going to purchase 10 in total, to prepare for the future."
