It was a beautiful day on Tuesday when 120 people gathered on the lawns of Gabbinbar Homestead to drink rosé, play croquet and raise funds for the Darling Downs Health Cardiac Investigations Unit.

Attendees at the Classic Beauty Therapy Rosé and Croquet event were treated to an exclusive one-time-only experience with the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation.

Dressed in white garden party attire, guests had the chance to try their hand at croquet on the lawn, followed by a three-course Gabbinbar chef-prepared luncheon.

All funds raised at the luncheon went towards the purchase of much-needed exercise stress testing equipment for the Darling Downs Health Cardiac Department.

The goal was to raise $40,000, and the while the total was still being tallied, Toowoomba Hospital Foundation CEO Alison Kennedy said she believed they would reach or come close to their goal with so many generous people attending.

“The equipment will be portable and be able to be taken out into country areas to help our rural patients, not just those at the Toowoomba Hospital,” she said.

“People are being very generous at the moment, as always in Toowoomba.

“We’ve had a few months without an event so people are keen to be here and help.

“We feel very chuffed that Gabbinbar allowed us to be here because it’s such a beautiful and iconic place to come, it’s a very special day.

“Heart disease is one of biggest killers in Australia, so anything to do with cardiac people are supportive of.

“The Toowoomba Hospital Foundation and Toowoomba Hospital have done a really good job in the past 12 months of making people feel safe.

“Our health service is extraordinary, and they’ve gone to great lengths. We’ve done so well in Toowoomba, and I think people want to get behind the hospital which has kept them safe.”
