REVEALED: Application for new Toowoomba school

THE Diocese of Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office has submitted plans to Toowoomba Regional Council seeking preliminary approval for a new school.

THE Diocese of Toowoomba Catholic Schools Office has submitted plans to Toowoomba Regional Council seeking preliminary approval for a new school in Westbrook.

According to documents lodged with the council by Precinct Urban Planning, the diocese is seeking to subdivide a 48 hectare lot at 106 Boundary St South, Westbrook, to create a 10ha parcel of land on which a future school would be built.

The diocese is also seeking preliminary approval for a K-12 school, which would eventually have 312m of primary frontage onto Shoesmith Rd, and 295m of secondary frontage onto Boundary St South.

"The preliminary approval is sought to acknowledge and formalise the intended and ultimate end use of site for the purposes of a future school subject to projected growth in the catchment population and resident demand," the document said.

The land on which the diocese is seeking approvals for is currently zoned as rural.

While the documents emphasised the "design and configuration of any future school on the land is at an early conceptual planning and design stage", a "conceptual masterplan" has been prepared showing two ovals - one each for primary and secondary, science labs, agricultural shed, two multipurpose halls, cafe, multiple classrooms, and more.

The plans were lodged with Toowoomba Regional Council on July 16.
