Region’s weekend rainfall totals reach up to 50mm

While most of the Darling Downs received rain at the weekend, some areas reached up to 50mm.

IT WAS a wet weekend on the Darling Downs with some areas catching up to 50mm of rain on Sunday.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rosa Hoff said Toowoomba saw 35mm of rain at the weekend.

"In Toowoomba we recorded 34mm on Sunday, and on Saturday Toowoomba got 1mm," Ms Hoff said.

"Dalby got 34mm on Sunday.

"There was a particularly dense patch between Toowoomba and Dalby where it got up to 40mm-50mm on Sunday."

Roma received 16.2mm of rain on Saturday before the band moved further east.
Warwick received 14.6mm on Sunday, and further south Stanthorpe received some bigger falls.

"There was another dense patch around Stanthorpe which got 29mm (on Sunday) and the day before got 4mm," Ms Hoff said.

Ms Hoff said a trough and a cold front had combined in Central Queensland.

"The cold front dragged a rain band across central and southern Queensland on Sunday," she said.

"The rain band cleared off the coast last night so we've returned to sunny conditions."

Despite the cold front, Ms Hoff said temperatures would return to average this week.

"We've started to see temperatures ease but because they crept up to be quite warm over the weekend, when the cold front came through (on Sunday) it dropped our temperatures back down to the June average," she said.

"There is a chance of frost in the forecast, most likely on Wednesday for the Toowoomba region, as temperatures drop back to average."

Today's maximum temperature is forecast to hit 20 degrees with a minimum of 9.
