Redevelopment of rural service station approved

A WELL-KNOWN service station has been approved for redevelopment by Toowoomba Regional Council.

THE WELL-KNOWN service station at Steele Rudd's Corner on the New England Highway at Nobby has been approved for redevelopment by Toowoomba Regional Council.

United Petroleum applied to demolish the service station and build a new outlet in October last year.

The council approved the application late last week.

According to documents lodged with the council, the proposed redevelopment includes the demolition of the existing service station, house, and associated outbuildings "to deliver a modern consolidated service station development".

The redevelopment will include three fuel bowsers at the front for cars, and two at the back for trucks, 13 on-site parking spaces, and will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A service station has been in use and operating at the site since approximately 1959.
