THE long-discussed Quarry Gardens project will finally be started after it was included in the latest Toowoomba Regional Council budget, much to the delight of the concept's supporters.
Friends of the Quarry Gardens group chair Sarah Delahunty welcomed the commitment of $3.3 million towards the rehabilitation of the Bridge St quarry site, which forms part of stage one for the green space plan.
It will be funded through the council's innovative $50 million Pandemic Response Investment program, which will see 64 projects completed by local companies and contractors.
"I'm absolutely thrilled the council has committed to this project," Ms Delahunty said.
"We look forward to working with council to progress it.
"We're very happy with how the new council has embraced this project.
"We're really keen to see how we can get the gates open to the public soon."
Details on the project will be released soon.
