TOOWOOMBA Regional Council has approved a development application for a bus depot at the former Stonestreets Coaches depot in Warwick St, Harristown.

The depot was included in the sale of Stonestreets' coaches division to Premier Transport Group in August last year.

Premier Illawarra Pty Ltd applied for and was granted approval by TRC last week for a transport depot over three lots fronting Warwick and Buckland Sts.

In approving the application, a TRC officer said the proposed development "comprised of alterations and internal additions to the existing workshop, 52 bus parking spaces, 59 carparking spaces, a washbay, and a shed".

One lot is currently a sealed bitumen area, while the other features gravel and hardstand areas.

"The proposal includes additions to the existing ancillary offices, a washbay structure, and shed with a total additional Gross Floor Area of 219 sq m," the report said.

"The proposed development provides landscaping along the eastern and southern boundaries to maintain amenity of the surrounding residential uses".
