The weather was cold, but the play was red hot when Toowoomba played host to the inaugural Queensland Rugby Union Country Championships.
Played kicked off on Friday July 1 with more than 700 junior and senior players in action at Toowoomba Grammar School and Toowoomba Sports Ground.
Downs Rugby general manager Matthew Hammond said it was a proud moment for the organisation.
“We were delighted to bring the inaugural championships to town for four days,” he said.
“The level of play was outstanding and the economic boost for the region was huge with more than 700 players and 1500 officials in town.”
