FROM Yetis and Transformers to Lord of the Rings and Liarbirds, there were plenty of recognisable characters at this year's book week event hosted at the Toowoomba Grammar junior school.
Due to coronavirus, the national date for the event has been moved from August to October, but some Queensland schools have stuck with the original plan.
TGS year 3 teacher Karin Wharton said it was a joy seeing book characters come alive in the classroom.
"The outfits are gorgeous, there are a lot of home made ones, which we love the best," Ms Wharton said.
"I think parents have spent a lot of time preparing for book week, the children go home and say I want to be... and they make it happen.
"There's no homework this week, it's all about reading - which is so important."
Year 6 student Ben Constable and his classmates chose The Three Little Pigs as their book of choice, with some of them coming as pigs and others as the houses and the wolf.
"Charc came up with the idea of doing three little pigs, but we had too many people, so we decided to add the houses and the wolf to it too," Mr Constable said.
"One weekend, they came to my house and we planned the costumes - and then we've been making them since then.
"This is our last year doing it, which is a bit sad."
