A COOL, clear morning greeted performers at the start of day four of the Darling Downs Eisteddfod in Millmerran yesterday.
However, it didn't take competitors long to get into the swing of things, thanks to a packed schedule of dance.
Families travelled to Millmerran from across the state, including Gympie, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Mackay and Brisbane.
Darling Downs Eisteddfod committee secretary Lynnda Taylor said families from NSW had also been enrolled, but had to cancel after border closures came into effect.
"We had about 11 competitors who we had to say goodbye to," Ms Taylor said.
"Millmerran is a bit of a crossroads of towns - I have been blown away by the talent coming out to perform.
"We have a school from Mackay here and a couple of girls from Gympie - I'm excited they came out for it."
Ms Taylor said the committee hoped the eisteddfod would become a permanent fixture in town.
"To see it all come together is overwhelming," she said.
"We're restricted as to how many people can see it this year but I'm hoping that, in years to come, we can fill this place up and have a great go of this."
