Having opened on Duggan st two weeks ago, WyldAlchemy has already proved popular with residents.

Owner, beauty therapist Janelle Smoothy, said she had always dreamt of opening a store and the ongoing pandemic had spurred her into action.

“I’ve been doing beauty for 12 years now and I absolutely love natural products,” Ms Smoothy said.

“I want to help people relax and I’m trying to keep my products and services as affordable as I can.

“Work has been pretty constant, I’ve had people come in off the streets and book appointments which is exciting.”

Ms Smoothy offers a range of services at WyldAlchemy, including facials, massages and reiki energy healing.

“I have some specialised packages where I combine reiki with a massage and a facial,” she said.

“I have singing bowls, tuning forks and lots of crystals that I use in my treatments to relax the body, heal the mind, soothe the soul – that’s where my philosophy lies really.

“Some of my other specialities include bamboo massages and hot stone massages, which is something a little bit different.”

Ms Smoothy also produces an organic skin care range on site, which she incorporates into her treatments.

“I have worked with many companies and brands, and I just wanted to create something natural that would work for people’s skin,” she said.

“I first started making products for family and friends as gifts around three years ago and then I moved online.

“I make all of my products out the back here and I use as many organic ingredients as possible.

“I’m a beauty therapist so I know what works for skin, I know every ingredient and I know how it’s going to affect the skin.”

Ms Smoothy’s skincare range centres around crystals, which are visible in the bottom of some of her products.

“My rose quartz range is my soothing range, I started with a mist and I’ve now made a moisturiser, serum and a cleanser to go with that,” she said.

“Then there’s my anti-acne range, which includes extracts of green tea and to help heal the skin.

“My amethyst antioxidant range helps with the anti-ageing concerns.”
