A NEW guide showcasing the incredible walks and trails of the Toowoomba region has been released.

Toowoomba Regional Councils' updated booklet showcases 78 local nature excursions graded for novice trekkers through to experienced outdoor enthusiasts.

The new booklet includes new park adventures and 20 kilometres more trails than the original brochure that launched in March 2019.

Environment and community portfolio leader Cr Tim McMahon said the Toowoomba region was renowned for its diverse landscapes and stunning scenery.

"This handy reference guide will assist our community through the walks and trails that traverse our region's diverse landscapes and the spectacular natural environment," he said.

"We have a range of iconic walks throughout our region that allow the intrepid trekker to pursue their love of everything outdoors passing through some amazing landscapes.

"Outdoor adventurers will be spoiled for choice with the booklet outlining settings from urban circuits to bushland parks, mountain biking tracks and horseriding trails.

"The walks and trails included in the guide booklet are graded for all fitness levels with options for the novice trekker through to the experienced outdoor enthusiasts."

Bushwalkers can explore the 160 kilometres long Brisbane Valley Rail Trail which is one of the longest trails in Australia, stretching from the hills of Yarraman through to Wulkuraka near Ipswich.

"Alternately, if it is more the leisurely stroll you are looking for the 270-metre long wheelchair friendly sensory walk at J E Duggan Park with Braille signage might be more your style," Cr McMahon said.

More active adventurers may wish to explore the new offerings at Mt Peel with 7,250 metres of single-track mount bike trails on offer.

Cr McMahon said there are so many opportunities for all the family to discover while exploring the beautiful Toowoomba Region.
