THE Toowoomba Regional Council has approved its own project to build a storage shed at the Toowoomba Aerodrome at a special meeting.
In a move designed to show greater transparency, the councillors voted yesterday in favour of the council-led plan for a 112 sqm shed just off the existing runway apron.
TRC senior planner Richard Green said the shed was required to store airside equipment, which had to be removed from the main terminal to make room for a special undercover transfer station for patients of the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
"In summary, the shed is to store airside equipment, such as lawnmowers and such, which are being relocated from the main building that's currently on the airport grounds," he said.
"Effectively, it has come before the council as it is a council-owned property and the application is by the council, to ensure the transparency of the decision notice."
The shed will be just 5m from the boundary of the aerodrome, near several houses.
