THE Toowoomba CBD will soon be home to another bar, with The Rock launching The Top Bar.

The Top Bar will be on the second level of The Rock, which opened in July as part of the Oaks Toowoomba Hotel.

It was built on the former site of the Gladstone Hotel in Ruthven St.

The Top Bar will open on Friday, October 2 and will operate as a large covered deck and public bar operating weekly from Friday through to Sunday.

The Top Bar level will offer casual Fox Sports viewing across nine 62-inch screens as well as local live music.

The space will be available to host private functions from Monday through to Thursday when it's not being made available to the public over the weekends.

Developer Kenneth Wagner said he was excited to launch this next stage.

"We can't wait to open The Top Bar to Toowoomba locals and visitors as a bar that offers a great casual space for live music and a casual drink," he said.

"A fun fact about The Top Bar is that the original floorboards from the Gladstone Hotel have been repurposed as a timber feature that clads the walls of the Top Bar, with the addition of a retractable awning system that has been installed in our beer garden this week.

"At the opening, our capacity will almost double to close to 200 patrons under COVID regulations."

Mr Wagner said The Rock was trading well since opening two months ago.

"The Rock is trading well, given the current capacity restrictions as a result of COVID. Like the rest of the industry, we are looking forward to a further easing of the restrictions over the coming months."
