With a local horse a strong contender in the ‘race that stops the nation’, Toowoomba is ready to giddy up this Melbourne Cup day. See the full list of events you still have time to buy tickets for.

It’s going to be a Melbourne Cup Day for the history books for Toowoomba.

With Toowoomba gelding Incentivise leading the odds, the city will have a reason to celebrate the “race that stops the nation” this year more than ever.

Whether you’re celebrating to get behind our champion horse in style or simply wanting to watch with a drink in hand, here is a list of places you can catch the race in Toowoomba:

1. Wilsonton Hotel

Head down to the pub for a full day of festivities, including a three-course menu, TAB facilities from 7am, and live music from 11am.

2. Club Toowoomba

Three-course spring luncheon, champagne on arrival, live music, and Fashions on the “Green” – what more could you ask for of a Melbourne Cup celebration? Head to Club Toowoomba from 11am and don't forget to dress for the occasion.

3. The Southern Hotel

For a “party that never stops”, race over to the Southern Hotel.

Celebrations from 2pm include a full lunch menu, bar giveaways, sweeps and TAB facilities, as well as live entertainment.

4. Clifford Park

There’s still time to book to celebrate Melbourne Cup Day at Clifford Park, but get in quick.

General admissions tickets are still available, which will get you trackside for the race day.

5. Wellbean Co

Wellbean Co will be hosting a special Melbourne Cup morning tea and barbecue lunch.

COST: Lunch is $15, and the morning tea special is only $6.50

6. Toowoomba Sports Club

While tickets to their luncheon are sold out, the Sports Club will still be welcoming patrons through the doors for a drink to watch the big race.
