A WOMAN has appealed to the public for help in recovering her brother's record collection, part of which was stolen from his Quinalow home last month.

Jeff Johnson had been in hospital at the time of the incident, having his leg amputated after a childhood injury turned gangrenous.

His sister, Bev Killick, said he had returned home after weeks of rehabilitation to find 130 of his records missing.

"(His injury) has been ongoing all of his life - and the thing that saved him was music," Ms Killick said.

"He would save his pocket money to buy records and that continued up until now and he had a massive record collection."

Ms Killick said the person had taken his entire Jimi Hendrix collection and a wide range of vinyls and CDs, including some by Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, blues, jazz and heavy metal musicians.

"It breaks my heart that this has happened - he said it felt like when his leg was amputated, his collection was taken - he's lost both," she said.

Ms Killick said she suspected some of the records would be sold in the Toowoomba region and asked residents to keep an eye out for them.

"Whoever the thieves are, reach inside and have some compassion - we can organise an amnesty for you to drop them back, no questions asked," she said.

She added that those with information could contact her at bevkillick@hotmail.com or via her Facebook page.
