‘Strengthening our service community’ is the theme for the inaugural Toowoomba Disability Forum taking place next month and will help ensure the 5,827 local people who are living with a disability are provided with the best care possible.
The forum is open to all local NDIS service providers and aims to provide access to current information from quality speakers.

CEO of Magenta Community Services, Wendy Agar said the forum is a wonderful opportunity for local NDIS providers and allied services to come together to learn, network and build shared capacity.

“We are all dealing with the same challenges and opportunities, and we believe that it will ultimately be the local participants who benefit from us facilitating a day such as this,” she said.

The forum presentations and panel discussions will cover relevant topics such as the current review of NDIS, restrictive practices, domestic and family violence, and workforce planning.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have been able to secure expert speakers such as Fran Vicary, the state director for NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, Domestic and Family Violence council member and ex-Olympian, Karni Liddell, the director of Provider and Market Engagement Queensland NDIS, Padmini Saxena and Queensland Shadow Treasurer and Member for Toowoomba South, David Janetzki,” Ms Agar said.

“It’s exciting that we have had so many experts jump on board to be part of bringing this learning opportunity here to us in Toowoomba, and we hope as many people as possible can benefit.”

The forum is being held on Friday, August 6 at the Toowoomba Showgrounds Function Rooms.
