-2.3C! Icy temperatures and strong winds blast Toowoomba

IF YOU thought it was freezing this morning, you were right. Here's what you can expect for the rest of the day.

THE mercury dropped to 2.9 degrees in Toowoomba this morning with the apparent temperature sitting at -2.3 at 5am.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Rosa Hoff said the cold was being felt right across the region with Oakey recording 0.7 degrees overnight Dalby 2.1, Applethorpe 3.3, and Warwick 5.1.

"These cold nights are going to stick around, day time temperatures should be repaired a bit sooner because we'll have a bit of sun during the day," Ms Hoff said.

"There's quite a bit of southerly air being pushed into Queensland thanks to a low pressure system in the Tasman Sea off the coast of NSW."

Toowoomba's maximum temperature is set to reach only 11 degrees today, with strong winds blowing through the city.

"The mornings will be the windiest part of the day for today and tomorrow," Ms Hoff said.

"Winds west to south-westerly getting up to 45km/h, today and 40km/h tomorrow."
