Australia Day is nearing and venues around Toowoomba are gearing up to celebrate. For those who associate the Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown with the national day, you’re in luck because there are days of celebrations ahead.

Australia Day is coming up quick and a number of venues around town are hosting events to celebrate.
The national day of celebration falls on Tuesday, January 26 with many places gearing up for a big day of festivities.
In the past the Triple J’s Hottest 100 has always gone hand-in-hand with the day but the countdown will stream the previous Saturday now with some pubs and bars holding a separate celebration for the annual event.
Here is a list of Australia Day events across the Garden City which allow you to party from January 22 – January 26.
1. Tatts Hotel
When: January 22 – 24
The Tatts Hotel is celebrating Australia Day all weekend with live music, guest DJs and resident DJs.
2. The Rock Top Bar
When: January 23 and 26 from noon
The Top Bar is kicking off Australia Day festivities with the Hottest 100 countdown on Saturday at noon. There will be food and nibbles as well as a range of drinks to choose from.
The party doesn’t end there with The Rock Pub hosting an Australia Day event on Tuesday. Guests are encouraged to dress up as they enjoy the Australia Day Test, a barbecue on the terrace, Great Northern giveaways and live music.
3 . The Met Hotel
When: January 23 from noon and January 26 from 10am
The Met Hotel will be streaming the Triple J’s Hottest 100 countdown on Saturday and then partying on after the official countdown, as the Kings of Calu perform the best of the Hottest 100. Guests can expect all the bangers from this year, and previous years countdowns.
The Met is also pulling out all the stops for the inaugural Australia Day Balter Beer and Pie Festival.
Guests are asked to come dressed in their most bogan attire for a chance to win a prize.
There will be pies from Theo’s Bakery as well as a pie eating competition and beers from Balter.
Entertainment on the day will be provided by DJ Damo.
4. Fitzy’s
When: January 24 from 2pm
Round up your friends for Fitzy’s Australia Day party with a free glitter and temporary tattoo bar. There will also be cocktail stations, beer buckets and Aussie inspired nibbles and dishes.
The Gold Coast’s Vibe Creators and DJ Teejay will be performing.
5. Spacies
When: January 25 from 5pm
Spacies is holding an It’s Nearly Australia Day Lock-In event, with tickets just $60 each.
Each ticket gets guests their first drink, 6 plus hours of free play on all pinball, arcade and console machines as well as their own stubby cooler.
There will also be a sausage sizzle which will include veggie and gluten free options.

6. Highfields Pioneer Village
When: January 26 from 9am
Each year the Highfields Pioneer Village hosts thousands of people for Australia Day with the celebrations jam packed full of fun with displays and entertainment.
Activities include milking of the cow, beekeeping, blacksmithing, working draught horse and whip cracking school.
There will be plenty of food such as meat pies, vegemite sandwiches and billy tea and damper.
There will be an aboriginal art display, live entertainment, family games and animal nursery.
Entry is $3 per person with under 12s free.
Entry becomes free after 1.30pm
7. Blue Mountain Hotel
When: January 26 from 10am
Celebrate Australia Day with loads of activities for both adults and kids. There will be a barbecue on the lawn with Australia themed food and cocktails.
Kids can be entertained with outdoor activities, and there will also be games and raffles.
8. Rotary Australia Day
When: January 26 from 1pm
Attend the Rotary Australia Day Multicultural Celebration at the Civic Square near the Library.
There will be entertainment and food to celebrate the diverse Australian community in Toowoomba.
9. Irish Club Hotel
When: January 26 from noon
The Irish Club Hotel will be offering Aussie tunes, cold beers and a free afternoon barbecue. There will also be the first annual ring toss competition with a $500 venue voucher up for grabs to the first-place winner.
10. George Banks
When: January 26 from 11am
George Banks is hosting a beach party with a private beach set up in the venue with palm trees, paddle pools and beach games.
They will also be offering a Banana Pina Colada.
Guests will enjoy the infamous yabbie races, fresh prawns on the barbecue and cold beers.
Tickets are $35 and include access to the event, a cocktail on arrival plus three drink tickets and bar snacks.
11. Club Toowoomba
When: January 26 from noon
Dig out your best boardies and thongs, and come and celebrate Australia Day with friends and family at Club Toowoomba.
There will be social bowls, food specials, drinks, cocktails and beer towers as well as live entertainment and a thong throwing competition.
