Hockey dad saves the day after Spacey Jane pull out
Indie music fans provide mixed reactions to latest line up announcement for new national music festival, Fresh Produce.

Some good news and bad news for live music festival lovers who are gearing up for the inaugural Fresh Produce festival at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in September.
One of the headline national acts, Perth indie rock garage band, Spacey Jane have announced the band has bad to pull out of the 2021 line up, stating ‘unforeseen circumstances’ have gotten in the way of them performing in the eight shows across the country.
“Hey crew, sad to announce that due to unforeseen circumstances, we aren’t able to play the Fresh Produce regional shows scheduled for later this year,” the band’s Facebook post said.
“We were super excited to get to these towns and hope to be able to do it some other way soon. Love Spacies.”
Fans were quick to share their disappointment in the comments section with some stating they would no longer be attending the festival at all.
The new indie music festival is a replacement for the popular annual Groovin’ in the Moo, with the two-day live extravaganza brought to life by management team Cattleyard Promotions.
The good news is Australian surf rock band from Windang, Hockey Dad has stepped in to save the day as the third national act and replacement for Spacey Jane.
“We are jumpin in to replace Spacey Jane on the Fresh Produce line-up! We hope this is okay with everyone,” Hockey Dad posted on their Facebook page.
“So keen to be cruising out to regional zones all around home again … they are always the best fun! Head over to Fresh Produce and get yourself sorted with some tickets.”
The band consists of two members, Billy Fleming and Zach Stephenson and their latest album Brain Candy reached number two on the Australian charts.
Hundreds of fans were quick to comment their excitement about the announcement, with dozens commenting their plans to purchase tickets to the Toowoomba show on Friday, September 4.
Other acts heading to Toowoomba’s leg of the festival’s national tour include G-Flip and Cosmo’s Midnight on the Friday and Lime Cordiale, Mallrat and Hooligan Hefs on the Saturday plus a number of local Queensland artists including JK-47, Jaguar Jonze, Lavanda, Jacknife, Reggie Gray, Hope D, Swish Music, Cloe Terare, Rave Radio and Ya Girl Party B.
