EN Glen McCracken joined the Toowoomba Grammar School board in 1990 he did not expect to still be there almost 30 years later.
Nor did he expect to lead the board for two decades as its chairman.
“It was an honour to have the position and I am happy with the state of the school,” he said.
“We have a good number of students, good facilities and most importantly good results for the boys.”
Mr McCracken will resign as chairman on December 1.
“It is time for there to be fresh blood and there is a new direction the school will take with a new headmaster,” he said.

Mr McCracken guided the school though a significant growth, including opening a Prep and primary school.
There were many new facilities built in that time, including an indoor sports complex named after Mr McCracken.
“It’s a very difficult thing to describe what it is like (to have my name on the building),” he said.
“I am very proud but is almost a little embarrassing.
Mr McCracken will be replaced by current board member Brendan Baulch.
“Brendan is very qualified, he joined the board a couple of years ago, he is an accountant in town and a director at Heritage Bank,” he said.
