It was in 2005 that Daryl Moore was searching for a new place to open a combined antiques and hospitality business when he discovered the building that would become home to Goombungee Antiques and Cafe.

“Goombungee was affordable, and I loved the building itself, with its bay windows,” Mr Moore recalled.

He’d seen the combination of an antiques store and cafe done well before: “People have a chance to sit down and look around. It’s much better for sales.”

The tight-knit country town rallied behind Mr Moore, and it soon became, in his words, “a thriving little business”.

But after 16 years, it’s time for Mr Moore to slow down.

Goombungee Antiques and Cafe is for sale via an expressions of interest process, which closes at 5pm on May 21.

“I’m just getting to that age where it’s time for me to start spending time with my grandkids, and my son wants to go fishing,” he said.

“Goombungee has been a wonderful town to me.

“It’s sad to say goodbye to it, but I’ve achieved what I’ve set out to do. It’s a thriving little business and the home’s turned out really beautiful.”

Featuring a unique fusion of space, character and style, the Goombungee Antiques and Cafe includes a gorgeous residence with an attached shopfront that has all of the requirements for sophisticated family living in a sought-after location with a picturesque outlook to enjoy.

Set on a 4047sq m block on two lots, there’s a relaxing outlook over the back of the block and multiple living spaces that flow from room to room with ease.
