TOOWOOMBA State High School students dazzled the crowds on Wednesday night as they made their way to their formal at Picnic Point.

An array of vehicles, including mustangs and trucks, dropped the students outside the event, with one young man deciding to make an entrance on a dirt bike.

This year's graduating class also celebrated a momentous occasion for the school, finishing Year 12 during the establishment's centenary year.

Toowoomba State High School Year 12 co-ordinator Jenny Martin said there was plenty of dancing as the students let down their hair after a busy year.

"They've been an excellent cohort that has behaved really well, we've enjoyed having them," Ms Martin said.

"It's nice to see them dressed up and looking mature - as compared to wearing their school uniforms.

"There were lots of photo booths and photos being taken, memories being made."

The students enjoyed a three-course, sit-down menu during the evening, followed by some awards.

They returned to school on Friday for their graduation, celebrating their final day alongside friends and family.

Ms Martin said younger students formed a guard of honour for the Year 12 students as they left the school for the last time.

"The students were very emotional, they were excited and I think a little bit sad," she said.
