HSHS graduates on the red carpet

PLENTY of classic styles graced the red carpet earlier this month, as Harristown State High School students celebrated the end of school at their formal.

The event, which was held at Highfields Cultural Centre on November 15, was a resounding success, according to Harristown State High School Year 12 co-ordinator Nick Clarry.

"They have been an amazing group that are very close," Mr Clarry said.

"Everyone looked great on the night; there was a wide range of colours and plenty of different outfits.

"Some of the students made extra effort in dressing to match their partners."

Mr Clarry said the 158 graduating students arrived in a range of classic cars before enjoying canapes with their parents.

They then went inside for a sit-down dinner and speeches by staff.

The formal followed the students' graduation ceremony which was held at the school hours earlier.

Mr Clarry said it had been an important day of celebration for the students.

"There was a range of emotions; they were happy to be there but sad to leave and have to say bye to their friends, some of which they have had for five years or longer," he said.

"The ceremony was a chance for them to collect their graduation certificates and celebrate the achievements from the year, especially those with 100 per cent attendance.

"The captains then did a quick address looking back at the year."
