FIRST LOOK: Toowoomba’s newest hotel ready to open

Take a look inside Toowoomba’s newest hotel which will open next month.

IN JUST under a month, Toowoomba residents and visitors will be able to enjoy a stay at the region's newest hotel.

On July 1, the Oaks Toowoomba Hotel will welcome its first guests after the launch was delayed earlier this year due to coronavirus.

Building developer Kenneth Wagner said he looked forward to showcasing the five-storey, 102-room hotel to the public, as well as the new pub called The Rock, as well as five independent retailers.

"Ivy Designer Collections opened a few weeks ago and Profile Hair Designs opened quite a few weeks ago," Mr Wagner said.

"We have a café called the Oak and Vine which is owned by Oak hotels, we have an independent liquor retailer and another retailer we're yet to announce.

"It's been a long time coming so we're looking forward to have everything opening."

Mr Wagner said he bought the site on Ruthven St, where the old Gladstone Hotel used to stand, in late-2016 before starting construction in early 2019.

"It's been about a three and a half to four year process to get to this point," he said.

Minor Hotels' Australia and New Zealand COO Craig Hooley said the hotel already had bookings for July 1.

"We're almost fully booked for Carnival of Flowers in September," he said.

Mr Hooley said the company recently laucnhed its Sure Stay program to ensure its hotels were COVID-19 safe.

He said rooms would be cleaned and then each surface tested for coronavirus by an external company before the next guest will be allowed to stay in the room.
