FATAL CRASH: Police release new details about hit and run

DO YOU hold information that will give closure to the children Julie Thomsen, killed in hit and run?

THE children of Julie Thomsen are relying on witnesses to identify the driver who struck and killed their mother while she walked along the Warrego Highway in the weeks before Christmas.

Police renewed calls for public information to solve the case and give Ms Thomsen's children closure.

Laidley Senior Sergeant Regan Draheim said the police needed more details to understand what occurred that night.

"Police are apportioning no blame to anyone in relation to this incident," he said.

Investigators believe Ms Thomsen was stuck at 10.53pm, December 14, about 200 metres west of the Shell service station, at Hatton Vale on the Warrego Highway.

"The vehicle involved in that incident is yet to be identified," Sgt Draheim said.

"It would have been travelling in the westbound lane of the Warrego Highway, in the left-hand lane and Julie was struck on the fog lane of the highway."

There was no evidence of sudden stopping or braking.

The impact would have been significant to cause her death, leading police to conclude the vehicle would have clear signs of damage to its left headlight area.

Sgt Draheim wants anyone who saw a vehicle travelling through the area at the time and with similar damage to contact police.

Police released new images of headlight fragments collected from the crime scene.

They hope the plastic shards will jog motorists' memories.

If you have any information about the incident phone Policelink in 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
