Groom by-election candidates and their volunteers were out in force yesterday as pre-polling opened across the city.

LNP candidate Garth Hamilton said it was good to see voting open.

“It’s a pretty consistent message coming from voters … people are interested in water security, in Inland Rail,” he said.

“They want to talk about the economy and coming out of 2020 in a pretty strong position.”

Labor candidate Chris Meibusch said residents had told him they were disappointed to go to the polls again so soon after the state election and last year’s federal election.

“We last elected a federal member not so long ago,” Mr Meibusch said.

“People want a fair go for Groom.”

Election day is on November 28, but there are a number of pre-poll locations in the city.
