Driver dies after head-on crash with truck on Gore Highway

The Gore Highway is closed as Forensic Crash Unit investigators begin the sad task of piecing together the moments that led to a motorist’s death.

A man has died and a second has been hospitalised after a head-on collision on the Gore Highway at Southbrook.

A B-double truck collided with a car on the highway about 6. 45am, just north of Southbrook.

Several police, paramedics and firefighters units were called to the incident but they were unable to save the driver of the car.

Paramedics have transported the male truck driver to the Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

The initial reports suggest the crash occurred on a section of the highway that has double lines.

The highway is closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
