Toowoomba South MP David Janetzki said he hoped to see the State Government invest in ag tech in this week’s state budget.
The government will hand down the budget, which was delayed because of the COVID-19 pandemic, in Brisbane on Tuesday.
Mr Janetzki, who is the Deputy Opposition Leader and the LNP treasury spokesman, said the Toowoomba region was looking for a “visionary budget” from the government.
“There are lots of projects that could be given the go ahead,” he said.
“There is road funding that could be approved and brought forward.
“I’m looking forward to holding to government to account on the budget as this region is ripe to deliver prosperity in Queensland. We need a budget that will deliver it.”
Mr Janetzki said Toowoomba was the “engine room” of Queensland that had a number of innovators creating new ideas.
“There ag tech space in particular (is something the government should) get behind and create conditions where they can flourish,” he said.
Mr Janetzki made the comments on Friday alongside Opposition Leader David Crisafulli.
“I want the government to deliver on their election promises,” the Opposition Leader said.
“They have a mandate to deliver.
“I don’t want to see projects put into the Never Never. I want to see them delivered now. It’s our state’s hour of need.”
