A TENDER has been released for companies to help replace a wooden bridge in the Toowoomba region that was damaged in a traffic crash.
The Toowoomba Regional Council has already demolished the old Tummaville Rd Bridge, which crosses over the Condamine River in the Pittsworth area.
The original bridge was closed by the council in 2018 due to a crash.
According to tender documents to replace it with a more modern design, the council requires a contractor to drive piles into the bed of the river.
"The council has demolished the existing timber bridge and plans to construct a new two-span bridge at the location of existing bridge," the document said.
"Design for Tummaville Rd Bridge replacement has been finalised and issued for construction drawings completed.
"The council is seeking tenders from experienced piling contractors to undertake the piling works for the Tummaville Rd bridge, (with) 21 piles of 23.5m length to be driven into the bed of the Condamine River (North Branch)."
The $2.97 million project has been assisted by $700,000 from the Federal Government's Bridge Renewal Funding assistance program.
