THE Toowoomba Regional Council has approved a plan to expand a longstanding pub in the city’s northern suburbs.
Ravensbourne Holdings Pty Ltd put forward a plan in July for a 500sq m extension to the Royal Hotel on Ruthven St in North Toowoomba.
The expansion would add another 309sq m of gross floor area to the actual hotel, increasing its maximum patronage to 233, as well as increasing the number of car parks.
No plans have been put forward to change the accompanying drive-through bottle shop.
The application went to a public notification period after the council completed its information requests, but no submissions were received.
TRC planning officer Nadia McLeod found the plan to comply with the Toowoomba Regional Council’s planning scheme.
“The proposed development complies with the strategic framework and generally complies with the relevant aspects of the zone and development codes or it can be conditioned to comply,” she wrote in her report.
“Where the applicant has not provided sufficient information, conditions have been imposed to ensure compliance.
“Relevant matters also support approval of the proposed development.”
The council included 75 conditions for the applicant to adhere to, relating to landscaping, visual and acoustic amenities, traffic and wastewater.
