The Southern Downs Regional Council temporarily closed Condamine River Road, citing safety concerns for road users with recent rain and rising water levels.

The council staff will regularly check the conditions and will reopen the road once it is safe to travel on.

Visitors in the area should take care around water crossings which are subject to fast changing

depths and flows after rainfall.

Access to Killarney via Boonah is still available through Spring Creek Road.

A spokeswoman said the council was mindful that this area is a natural treasure and the public road is part of the delicate ecosystem.

Further updates will be provided on the Southern Downs Regional Council’s Facebook page and website.
