Cocktail lounge, sportsbar: CBD pub reopens with new look

A Toowoomba pub is almost unrecognisable as it reopens with a fresh look after its new owners decided to take it in a different direction.

The Tatts Hotel officially reopened today with a relaxed, coastal vibe.

The walls are adorned with pink and green palm trees, there is greenery throughout, and the roof is lined with cane pendant lights.

There is also a sports bar, The Stadium, which is home to Toowoomba’s largest screen, and a cocktail lounge.

The venue has a light and airy feel with owner Christina Scarborough’s plan to “bring it back to its former glory” coming to fruition.

The idea was to introduce something vibrant and not yet seen in Toowoomba.

Mrs Scarborough held a soft opening on Wednesday and said it went amazingly.

“The soft opening went so well, I was getting a bit nervous, but it’s squashed my fears and I’m really excited,” she said.

“We want Tatts to be a place where people can come in at any time and either sit by the bar, in the cocktail lounge or sports bar have a few drinks and relax.”

The chefs have created a new menu, and while the food will still traditionally be pub meals Mrs Scarborough said they are “bigger and better.”

“I’d still refer to the menu as a pub menu with your steak, burgers and pizzas but the meals are just a lot more tastier,” she said.

“Our chefs have worked on a whole new menu so we encourage people to come in and try it.”

A new cocktail menu is also being worked on at the moment with ingredients such as Caramello Koalas, TimTams, Hubba Bubba and fairy floss.

The Tatts Hotel will still also operate as a nightclub on Friday and Saturday nights.

The original plan was to have a grand opening Neon Party but Covid restrictions have postponed the event.
