THE security template for hotel quarantine has been changed after a statewide review, which was sparked by Goondiwindi man Aaron Sydney Green's disappearance from the Athena Motel Apartments last month.
Mr Green absconded from the motel just nine days into his two week mandatory COVID-19 quarantine, returning a day later.
Queensland Police Service Commissioner Katarina Carroll said the review, completed last week, revealed no wrongdoing by the QPS.
"I think it was an issue with the capacity of the police, the number of police that were there at the time," Commissioner Carroll said of the incident.
"We have had some tens of thousands into our hotels in the last several months and out of that we have probably had just three incidents.
"Overall, the review finds we are in good stead how we do it in our state."
She said the service had now "tinkered with a few things" to improve them.
"What we've learnt from Brisbane, who has been doing it for an extensive period of time, we have implemented (here)," she said.
"It wasn't that they were relaxed, we have a different template in different areas."
