FOR more than a decade, it was a Christmas tradition for the Taylor-Gough family to explore the world, but now it’s the things closest to home that bring the most joy.
Aleksandr Taylor-Gough, wife Brooke and children Oliver and Ivy dressed in their most festive clothing and took a moment out from the hussles of life to relax in the park and sing along to the Carols by Candlelight performances on Sunday night.
“We loved it,” Mr Taylor-Gough said.
“As a family, we love celebrating Christmas, and what a great way to do it really after Covid and without all the restrictions.”
Mr Taylor-Gough, who is the principal at Drayton State School, said the festive season was all about family, and it was so special to be able to make lifelong memories with his young family.
Each year, the family tries to go all out with a tree, decorations, singing carols, seeing Christmas lights and being thankful for everything they have.
With the rest of the world starting to open up again after the Covid pandemic, Mr Taylor-Gough hoped next year he could show his children more of the world, with the North Pole even on the cards.
In the meantime, Mr Tayor-Gough said his family loved watching the carols singers, and while there was not a clear favourite, Silent Night and Joy to the World were always enjoyed.
The Taylor-Gough family was one of thousands to visit Queens Park for the annual Tripe M Mayoral Carols by Candlelight.
