More showers and storms are to follow a weekend of warm weather in the garden city, according to the Bureau of Meteorology forecast.
Toowoomba is expected to have a high of 30 degrees tomorrow and on Sunday, with partly cloudy weather bringing a slight chance of a shower.
On Monday, the wet weather is likely to intensify due to a developing ridge of high pressure of the east coast, with BOM predicting a 50 per cent chance of rain in the city.
The rainfall will likely be scattered with parts of the region expected to receive between 0mm and 3mm of rain.
The chance of a shower or possible storm will continue into the week, with temperatures sloping off come Thursday.
“Conditions in the southeast are generally stabilising for the next few days under a weak ridge of high pressure,” BOM meteorologist Kimba Wong said.
“Heat is gradually building over the interior during the next week and is expected to spread into the southeast early to mid next week with fire danger ratings likely to increase in response.
“A tropical low is expected to develop along the monsoon trough in the northwest Coral Sea over the weekend, and in favourable atmospheric conditions, it is likely to intensify into a tropical cyclone during next week.
“At this stage, there is some uncertainty in the timing and position of this development and the subsequent movement of the system in weak environmental steering conditions next week.”
