It is time to dust off the green and gold because Australia Day has rolled around again.

Tomorrow pubs, clubs and community centres across the Darling Downs will host a range of great family friendly events to celebrate everything great about Australian culture.

Here are just a few of the events that are on.

Big burgers at Fitzy’s

Head into Fitzy's for some Aussie tucker, cocktails, beer buckets and epic tunes.

The pub’s chef will cook up a special Aussie Beef Burger made from a 100 per cent Stanbroke beef pattie.

There will also be a range of Aussie cocktails including a mango sunrise and the bananarama.

Free pool

The Southern will unlock its pool tables for free games all day long while also giving away 10 $50 bar vouchers.

The special for the day is a 400 gram rump steak and schooner for $23.

Sausage sizzle

The Wilsonton Hotel is also putting on free pool, coupled with meat tray giveaways, a sausage sizzle and a thong throwing competition.

For the kids they will have a colouring-in competition.

Cold crafties

Get downtown to the Met for its Beer and Pie Festival.

The venue has teamed up with the Balter Brewing company and will be pouring a select range craft beers all day along with plenty of merch giveaways.

Theo’s Bakery will be cooking up its award-winning pies which will be available all day! It doesn’t get much more Aussie than that!

Come dressed in your most patriotic, bogan attire for your chance to win a prize!

Hot farmers

The Spotted Cow is hosting a hottest farmer competition all day Wednesday.

If you think you have what it takes visit the pub’s Facebook page to register.

The winner gets bragging rights and $1000.

If you just want a look, swing by the pub from 2pm.

Rail-ly fun time

Enjoy a family-friendly day of activities at the DownsSteam Tourist Railway and Museum.

From 9am-3pm, there will be a flag-raising ceremony, live music and face painting.

Beverages and food will also be available to purchase on the day including a sausage sizzle, gourmet pies and scones with jam and cream - how Aussie is that!

Official events

Thanks to the Covid outbreak most Toowoomba Region Australia Day Award events are restricted to officials, invited guests, award nominees and their immediate families.

But there are some public events.

They include Oakey’s community event in Arthur Shooter Park from 7.30am-12pm.

There’s a free morning tea and billy boiling competition from 9.30am followed by team and individual events including a dunny race, open and junior iron man races, thong throwing, wheelie bin and sack races.

There will also be a small service at the Cambooya Recreation Grounds from 9-10am.
