ARKWOOD Organic Recycling has applied to Toowoomba Regional Council for planning approval for a transport depot in Charlton.
According to documents lodged with the council, the depot will provide storage of up to six trucks from the start of use, increasing up to 20 within the first 12-18 months.
The facility will involve the use of an existing warehouse building for an office, vehicle workshop and storage, and an existing shed in the southeastern corner for driver amenities such as showers, sitting areas, and a kitchen.
"The proposed development involves an extension to existing handstand areas from 937 sq m to 11,730 sq m to allow for the adequate parking and manoeuvring of vehicles," plans said.
"The development will also utilise the existing equipped washbay for the cleaning of vehicles. It is noted that whilst the trucks associated with the use are utilised for the transportation of effluent waste, any effluent waste will be cleaned from the trucks prior to returning to the site, with the washbay used for the cleaning of dirt, bugs and grime from the trucks."
The council is assessing the application.
