Aged care residents in five Toowoomba suburbs will soon be receiving the Pfizer vaccination, after the first steps of the vaccination rollout were revealed by Federal Health Minister Greg Hunt today.
Facilities in Glenvale, Kearneys Spring, South Toowoomba, Toowoomba and Harristown have been earmarked for week one distribution, with the rollout due to start on Monday.
All of the country’s aged care residents and workers are expected to be vaccinated within six weeks.
This will mark the start of Phase 1a of the vaccine rollout in Queensland, which aims to immunise quarantine and frontline health care workers, and aged care and disability residents and their staff.
According to information provided by the Australian Government, people living and working in residential aged care and disability care settings will be informed about vaccination timings by their aged care facility or disability service providers.
“You can be vaccinated either at your facility or at a vaccination hub,” the information reads.
